Moving Expenses

Often moving expenses can be a big consideration when moving in Vancouver

Moving expenses will obviously feature high on a list of concerns. It is important to ensure that you choose a company that will treat you as their priority, at Priority 1 Moving we always do. You want to pay for a complete service and only pay the price you agreed. We have a lot of competitors for your business but we know that we will always do the job right and on time.

We constantly hear stories of how other less scrupulous movers have let customers down at the last minute or have negotiated increased charges once half of the mover’s belongings have been loaded adding considerable amount to the moving expenses. At Priority 1 moving we will never do that. We quote a price and we stick to it and we take great pride in everything we do.

Moving expenses in Vancouver do not need to be astronomical,

That is what competition is for. Many other moving companies may well charge less but we know that they will not offer the same unrivaled professional service that we can which should be thought of as part of your moving expenses. A move is a stressful time and we want to make sure that the experience is hassle free and that all our customers are extremely confident and relaxed. We have gained vast experience in the moving business and this is reflected in our policies. We do not add on hidden charges to our quotes or change the price at our whims. We liaise with our customers to establish all their concerns and then agree to a price. At Priority 1 Moving we pride ourselves on our honesty and we always put our customers first.

We offer an unbeatable service that is both professional and reasonable. Your job is carried out by our expert staff, who share in our ethics. They too believe that a customer has a right to expect the level of service they have paid for. Unlike some moving companies we do not cut corners or make excuses, we deliver.

We know that the moving expenses involved  is a main concern to our customers and we can offer a price quote guarantee.

This is our way of saying thank you for choosing our company for your move. Many other rivals quote a price and then invent imaginary extras to boost the price after it has been agreed. Why do they do this? Simple, they know that many already anxious customers will just agree to the extra cost, as they feel that it is easier than finding a new moving company. We will never to this. At Priority 1 Moving we wish to remove any problems or heartache so that you can relax. We want you to be able to concentrate on all the other numerous tasks that need to be completed. You can trust Priority 1 Moving and we know that our competitors are not able to say the same with any confidence.

At Priority 1 Moving we value competition. We see it as a challenge. It is important for our customers to see that compared to our competitors, we not only offer an excellent moving service but we also offer unbeatable value for money.

Guaranteed Moving Prices in Vancouver

,

Changing moving prices?

Researching the best company to transport the contents of your home and getting the best moving prices can be a daunting or overwhelming task.

It is often that things can go wrong with many different moving companies, not just because of the stress of the move, but because of dishonest practices done by the movers. For example, when it comes to moving prices some moving companies will increase the estimated or quoted price that was given to you originally on the date of the move. This is a common problem because once the movers have started packing your belongings into the moving truck, they will approach you and fabricate a new cost or raise the original due to a miscalculation.

Common moving prices switch is frustrating

The most common frustrations with customers and their choice of a moving company is when the moving prices fluctuate. Most customers, if not all, will end up paying the higher charge. This is due to the fact that it will always be easier to just pay the inflated charge rather than hiring new movers and delaying the move date.

Be confident with our moving prices
No Changes in our Moving Prices

If you are worried about getting scammed like so many others, then the safest and best choice will always be Priority 1 Moving in Vancouver. When we quote a price to our customers we never change the final cost without adequate and formal notice to the customer. We will never change the price the day of the move due to an imaginary miscalculation, or any other bizarre reason many other moving companies can create. Our price quote guarantee is our way of saying thank you for choosing to do business with us. It saves you the additional headache cause by many movers and allows for one less thing to be on your mind on a moving day. Whether this is your first, tenth or last and final move, Our Company will always be the best choice for  guaranteed moving prices

Moving Companies are not all the same

There’s Something to Learn From Every Moving Horror Story

At Priority 1 Moving we strive to provide our customers with quality service, with no hidden fees ever. Our first priority is making sure your move is done in a smooth, hassle-free matter.  With all the stress which comes along with relocating, you deserve a moving company that cares, and will get your belongings moved in a safe and secure manner. Unfortunately, this is not always the case with moving companies. After experiencing our customer driven service, our clients often share their moving horror stories. Though we never take pride in the mistakes of others, we listen to these horrible experiences so that we may learn something from each on how to better serve you our customers.

Recently, we were told of this moving experience

A husband and wife were set to move from San Diego, Ca. to Ausin Tx.,and had been quoted a price of $3525.67.  Onmoving company horror stories the day of the move, they were as giddy as any family would be, until the movers arrived.  Though they had been told their move would be in an 18- wheeler truck, they found themselves opening their door to untidy men who were driving a banged up moving van.

Not only was it not an 18- wheeler,

The van had been unsuccessfully repainted several times- with previous logos showing beneath the cheap, sheer paint.  Despite the anger, and frustration they felt, the couple went on to sign the paper.  However, upon signing, they were told of “extra” charges which they would have to pay. This was simply too much to handle, but the couple attempted to debate the charges with the emails which had been sent regarding the price of the move.

Although the emails were from an “agent”

From their company who set up the move, the movers did not waiver. The price would have to be paid before the moving could get started.  It was then that they called the company-  which resulted in being the “frosting on the cake”.  The “agent” in so many words told them that the “extras” were discussed and they would have to be paid.  Knowing this was untrue, the couple tried to argue the fact, however  the “agent” broke the first rule of customer service.  He did no listening and all talking.

He did not let them get a word in.

( This is something we at Priority 1 Moving would never do-  we believe that  great customer service comes by way of listening first, and talking second). So, as a result of the descrepancy about the charges, the “agent” told the husband and wife, that because they were not happy, they could send the movers away- but would not be refunded their deposit.  Guess how much the deposit was? Every bit of seven hundred dollars- which they have not to this day ever gotten back!  Yes, they kicked the men off their property, and dealt with the fact that they had no way to move, and needed to be out within the next few days- after the dust from the banged up truck settled.  Needless to say, they did move to Texas, for an undisclosed price- and hopefully are enjoying their new beginning.

This was one of the many moving horror stories we have heard,

We always welcome for the benefit of  knowledge.  We at Priority 1 Moving will never quote a price, and change the given price on moving day.  This is a very immoral practice, which we do not condone.  When you speak with our customer service representatives, feel free to ask questions concerning any charges or fees.  Integrity is very important to us, not only when it comes to moving your items- but your pricing as well. Making sure your move is hassle- free is a priority, should you have any concerns,  contact our customer service- and we will work to resolve your issue immediately.

Packing and Unpacking Tips

Unpacking Tips To Help Settle In Quicker

Some people like unpacking in a new house because they associate it with a new start but others don’t enjoy it at all.  Either way the job should be done quickly so that you can settle in and enjoy your new surroundings.  There are plenty of unpacking tips to follow but most of them relate back to the packing to leave.

The first and most important tip is to ensure that every box you pack is labelled for the room it is to go into and a brief of what is in the box followed by a house inventory of boxes and items.

Unpacking Tips

1.    Kitchen – when packing up the kitchen make sure boxes are smaller for crockery and there will be less chance of breakage due to dropping. When all your boxes arrive for the kitchen you will know by size and label what you have got. Before randomly unpacking give a quick thought to the use of the kitchen and where it would be best to have your items placed in the kitchen.

2.    Bedrooms – assemble the beds and make them. A good tip here is to pack all the bedding for each bed in a clear plastic bag and then each bag can be quickly located to the right bedroom.

3.    Bathroom – when packing, separate into small boxes the different items to unpack, before putting them in a large carrying box.  This way it will be easy to work out where these toiletries are to go and which bathroom.

4.    Garage – when packing smaller items it pays to have grouped them together for ease of unpacking into the right section of the garage.

5.    Living areas – the living area furniture is usually obvious and the movers will carry this into the right place for you but the accessories should be packed carefully into boxes and kept safe until you have time to unpack them which is usually one of the last jobs.  Any paintings should remain in the packaging until all the furniture is out and you know just where you want to hang them.

General Unpacking Tips

•    Prepare for unpacking by labeling and identifying boxes when you pack – number your boxes and make an inventory not only of the boxes but also where they are to go – keep out any tools you may need for assembling beds etc.

•    Start sorting out your belongings one month before moving and discarding anything you don’t want to take with you and this will give you less unpacking.

•    Start unpacking the essentials first: the basics in the kitchen so that you can cook a meal for the next day

•    Then make sure the beds that are needed are made up ready for sleeping and hang clothes in the closet (this is a great job for the kids or for helpers as they don’t have to make any decisions)

•    Start the washing – there is usually a lot of linen to wash after a move and if you put this on it can work while you work – another great job for helpers

•    Unpack the clean linen for the bathroom and the toiletries

•    Connect the computer and other electronic equipment

Once you have these jobs done you can then work through the remainder of the boxes in the following few days and get your house looking back to normal again.

Moving Insurance Explained

,

The Basics of Moving Insurance.

Many people underestimate the importance of insurance. However, when things go wrong, they find out to their dismay that financially they are not prepared to handle the situation. The same applies when goods are moved from one location to another. There is always a chance that during the transit, loading, unloading or storage; something may go wrong leading to the loss or damage of the items. This makes it important to have proper insurance in place. In the following paragraphs, the basics of moving insurance explained.

Valuation by the Moving Company
Buyers need to choose a particular insurance according to their specific requirements. It is important to not confuse the valuation done by the moving company with the proper moving insurance. Valuation only defines a limited liability on the part of the moving company and does not cover everything as much as the cost of the goods. Valuation option is offered without any extra cost and is not related in any way with the insurance option.

Types of Moving Insurance

There are about five types of moving insurance applicable according to Canadian laws. These insurance options include:

1) Basic Coverage
For moving companies, it is mandatory by law to provide a basic coverage to the consumers. The compensation rate for this insurance is $0.60 per good per pound. It means that if the good weighs 30 pounds then the compensation rate would be $18.

2) Declared Value Coverage
This insurance provides better coverage than the basic ones. The compensation is based on the depreciated value of the good and not on its current replacement value. In this case, for the liability amounting to $1000, the consumer has to pay $7. There is Lump Sum Value option where it is the consumer who defines the shipment value.

3) Full Value Coverage
Under this coverage, all the items can be covered up to the replacement value. The compensation may be different if the box was packed by the consumer and not by the mover. This makes it necessary to keep the damaged items in the original boxes until the claims are settled. For items lost or damaged in transit, this is the most comprehensive insurance coverage.

4) Extremely Valuable Items
These are the items that are defined having higher value than their weights, such as art collections, antique items, currency, silver and silverware, cameras, among many other such items. Compensation claims are only settled if all the items had been clearly identified and recorded as well as signed by the consumer before the shipment.

5) Homeowners Insurance
Traditional homeowners insurance also provides coverage up to the specified limit which can be about 10% of the declared value of the goods. The insurance must be valid when the damage or loss takes place. Its details must be checked before the shipment because it may be valid only on the home where the policy was purchased.

The damage or loss moving insurance claims must be filed within 9 months. The condition of all the goods must be checked immediately after delivery to ensure there is no damage or loss. It is a good idea to take photos of each of insured item before the shipment. This will help settle the claim easily when using moving insurance.

How to Choose a Moving Company

,

[uds-billboard]

[sharebox4 sharetext=”Share This Page”] [/sharebox4]

Moving to a new home is exciting choosing a moving company is not.

You will get to meet new people and live to a new environment. However, you should be prepared for the tiring part. You will need to pack your clothes, furniture, books, kitchenware and electronic items. You will need to find a reliable moving company to ensure that all your items will not only be moved but, moved safely and on time. Here are ways and tips on how to choose a moving company that you can fully trust.

First, start searching for moving companies a month or two before the actual moving date. It may seem very early but you will find that it is just enough. Looking for a moving company a day or a week before the moving day may cause you problems such as insufficient time for packing or having all the companies booked on your desired date. Contracting a moving company in October for a move in November or December will not hurt you, will it? After all, most companies will not ask for extra fee for early booking. In addition, you may want to ask for recommendations from your relatives, friends and neighbors. You can also take a walk or go to a café near a street to spot some trucks of moving companies. The fact that a company has its own truck and that it is running on a particular day can be considered a sign of the company’s seriousness in the business. Better yet, search the internet for reputable moving companies.

Second, decide on the service that you will avail from the moving company.

Will the service be a mere move or will you need the company to pack some of your things and clean the old or new home? Some companies do extra services for extra fee while some others provide them for free just to be chosen over their competitors. Some will even offer reusable plastic moving bins for free. However, you should be cautious about hidden charges.

Third, contact several moving companies. Always request for an estimate from several companies for the same service. Clarify the type of move you need. Will you be moving from one city in the same state, province or region? Some companies are limited to local or across the country moves. Obviously, you need to cross them out if you need to move from Canada to US. Some companies also specialize on residential move or commercial move. Others do both.

Fourth, do not be satisfied to “we can do that” answers. Take time to evaluate the moving company that you think will be a good choice. Look for associations and networks it belongs to and feedback from past clients.

Fifth, quotes are not enough. You need to determine how they determine the rates. Some companies calculate based on weight while others will base it on the duration of the move. Fees based on the truck space or cubic feet your things will take are not valid in most countries. If the moving company uses weight as basis, make sure that you will be there when it is weighing time. If based on time or duration, ask the company when the time starts and stops. The counting may start when the team arrives or when all the things are loaded to the truck.

Vancouver Moving Company Tips: Planning, Packing and Moving

Having plates broken or furniture items ruined is not normal when moving. A reliable and expert moving company can prove to you that it is possible to move without breaking any item into pieces.

Planning for a Moving Company

If you need to move, plan it very well. Never contact a moving company if you will be moving tomorrow. Otherwise, your move will be one of the stressful moves in history. It is good to plan days or even weeks before the actual move. You will have more time for packing (you don’t have to pack everything in just 24 hours or less) and you will be able to choose the best moving company in the area.

Packing for or with a moving company

You will find that most moving companies offer packing materials and services. They can provide you with packing supplies such as boxes and tapes. The cardboard boxes are very popular but the ones that are made from recyclable plastic are gaining popularity because they are considered as a green or environment-friendly solution. They are also more efficient as they can be used for other purposes after the move if purchased. Whether cardboard or recyclable plastic boxes, you need to make sure that the boxes will be strong enough to carry and keep your things. Most boxes can handle 60-lb combined weight of items. You should also ensure that there will be enough for your stuff. Buying in advance is also advantageous so you will have more time to buy more in case you still need to pack some things. It is rare to find a moving company that has extra boxes and other packing supplies on the day of the move.

Vancouver Moving company -The Move

Vancouver moving companies have the necessary vehicles to move your things across cities, states and provinces. You may also find companies that can help you move from one country to another.

There are some things to check when choosing a Vancouver moving company. First, you need to check the range of their service. Are they licensed for moves across the country or are their services limited to local moves? You should also check their insurance. Second, identify how they charge. Some give a fixed rate depending on the distance and number of men and vehicles needed to move your things while others charge on an hourly basis, which is much more complicated. Know when the timer starts and stops. You may also find a moving company that charges by weight. The men will pick your things, bring them to the weighing center and move them to the destination. Third, you should determine what the company’s staffs will do. A moving company may take care of packing big items like cabinets and computer tables for free while another may do it for an additional charge. Fourth, you should always look for the past customers of a certain moving company that you are planning to hire. Ask them about their experiences. Did the staffs arrive on time and were they fast to load and unload the items? Did the company use cloth or any protective measure for furniture, paintings and electronics? These are only some of the common questions that you should get answered.

5 Commercial Moving Tips

,

There are many people in the US and Canada who can use these commercial moving tips. There are some who plan well, are very organized and there are those that are not.

[sharebox4 sharetext=”Share This Page”] [/sharebox4]

1st of the Commercial Moving Tips

If a person wants to move to another office he has to come up with a moving checklist wherein he or she can manage a huge number of particulars in a limited period of time, Your moving company should have a list available for you to help in making your move as easy as possible.

2nd of the commercial moving tips

Selecting the day that he or she would wants to move. However, holidays like Memorial Day or Labor Day would be the most costly days to move. Ideally, reservations should be made in the prior months. Keep in mind that it is harder to book on weekends while weekdays are much easier because other commercial establishments can be reached during business hours. It would be best to make reservations in the middle weeks of the month instead of the last and beginning weeks.

Tips from a Commercial Moving Company in Vancouver

[uds-billboard]

[sharebox4 sharetext=”Share This Page”] [/sharebox4]
We are not sure if Margaret Thatcher was talking about a commercial moving company when she quoted this out.
Margaret Thatcher said: “Plan your work for today and every day, and then work your plan”. If you are considering moving your commercial operations that is exactly what you should do in conjunction with the right commercial moving company.

Best Commercial Moving Company in Vancouver

Consider Priority 1 Moving as your commercial moving company in Vancouver

Whether you are in Vancouver or anywhere else, the same basic principles when choosing the right commercial moving company to assist you, will apply. First they need to be professional, reliable and efficient and be able to communicate with you about the whole moving process, right from the beginning. Consider the following tips when deciding who you choose as your commercial moving company:

  • Ask them for referrals and contact these companies to make sure that the move was handled professionally and to their satisfaction.
  • Discuss how the move will take place to ensure that your downtime is minimised. It is not only important to notify your clients beforehand when the move will take place, it is more important to notify them of your new address and exactly when you will be back in full operation mode. Hence the importance to plan your move with the commercial moving  company in Vancouver of your choice and to know that the timeframes will be adhered to.
  • Be sure that all the boxes will be properly marked and labelled as it will be important when arriving at the new address for the boxes to be allocated to the correct offices. It might be a good idea to ask the packing boxes in advance from the commercial moving company and to allow the personnel to pack their own equipment, tools, etc. It might even be an advisable to allow your personnel to take their own stuff to the new premises.
  • Decide beforehand which equipment needs to be moved when. Some equipment might need cranes or special trolleys, some might need to be moved first and some last to ensure that downtime is minimised. Once you have discussed your needs with the commercial moving  company they will advise you of what will be required from you and what will be supplied and done by them to make this move as easy as possible.
  • It is also advisable to assign a person of your company at the old premises and one at the new one location with the specific task to oversee personnel, assist clients, etc. for the duration of the move.

Consider E-Cycling when choosing a Commercial Moving Company

There is a lot of talk lately about the principle of E-Cycling strategies when moving your commercial business. One of the major challenges with a move is what to do with redundant equipment such as televisions, computers, printers and similar material as it is not advisable for this equipment to be dumped at a landfill.

Read more about “E-Cycling strategies from the EPA and ask about E-Cycling  in choosing a commercial moving Company” and make Priority 1 Moving  part of your plan when working your plan.
