With everything we do including insurance coverage, at Priority 1 Moving, we adhere to high standards as a responsible, professional mover. As part of being a reputable company, we follow the guidelines outlined by the Good Practice Guidelines for Canadian Movers developed in part by the Office of Consumer Affairs and Industry Canada in accordance with insurance coverage.
Mover insurance coverage is a necessity
A backbone to any professional moving company. As an obligation to our customers, we provide you with the option of three (3) different types of insurance coverage for the day of your move. As a standard to every move and no additional cost to the customer, the Standard Protection insurance coverage (released valuation) policy provides coverage for loss or damage to any articles or effects caused by the fault of the carrier at a rate of $0.60 per pound to a maximum of $6,000.00 subject to depreciation.
Another option available to our customers is the Full Valuation Protection (replacement valuation) policy. This type of insurance coverage provides coverage for loss or damage to any articles or effects caused by the fault1 of the carrier at a rate of $4.50 per pound to a maximum of $6,000.00 and is NOT subject to depreciation and penalties for co-insurance (home owners insurance policies). In order to provide the proper insurance coverage, a list of items must be provided with a declared replacement value on all items you wish to insure. This option is comprehensive and is the best coverage available for customers wishing to pack their own boxes but would like coverage on bigger ticket items like a flat- screen TV or their leather couch. The typical cost for this type of insurance is around $50.00 – $75.00 depending on the items insured and distance of travel for the move. For more information please contact a sales representative.
The third insurance coverage option available to our customers is the Declared Valuation Protection policy. This type of insurance coverage provides coverage for loss or damage to any articles or effects caused by the fault1 of the carrier up to the declared value of the entire shipment to a maximum of $100.00 per pound per item. In order to provide the proper insurance coverage, a list of items must be provided with a declared replacement value on all items you wish to insure as well as ship. This option is comprehensive and is the insurance coverage of choice for customers wishing to have their goods packed by Priority 1 Moving and also wishes to have their entire shipment fully insured. The typical cost for this type of insurance coverage with a declared value of $10,000.00 is around $125.00 – $150.00 depending on the items listed and the distance of travel for the move. For more information and options available for this type of coverage please contact a sales representative.
Please note that Priority 1 Moving Ltd does not sell insurance coverage but is the middleman in regards to the purchase of insurance. CONTACT a sales representative for more information.
